MARYLAND ELECTION RESOURCES

Candidate Questionnaire and Responses

What is the greatest health care challenge facing Maryland today, and how do you plan to address it?

Adequate health system's.  The closet place is in Baltimore or DC.  This is unaccusable excuse.  The Eastern Shore is neglected and has been neglected.  I'll address this by fighting tooth and nail in Annapolis and demanding grant money and funds from the state surplus, mind you one of the largest surpluses in the nation.

Maryland’s hospitals operate under a unique contract with the federal government that promotes community, equity, and value. It also contributes significantly to Maryland's economy. How do you plan to support the continued success of the Maryland Model?

Honestly, this system works for the middle of the state, not the state's western region or eastern shore.  If anything this system needs an overhaul.

Maryland is experiencing a shortage of health care practitioners, especially nurses, that we project will worsen in the years ahead. How do you plan to address the immediate crisis and what will you do to make sure we have a robust and sustainable health care workforce pipeline?

By making sure no medical funding for public hospitals are cut and ensuring all hospitals stay open to make sure people in underserved communities have no choice but to drive several hours for proper care.  We have to also push MD as a state where people should live and research deeper reasons why they are leaving a state they statically ranks in the top ten for most categories year after year.

How would you increase availability of and access to health care for Marylanders?

I'd advocate for a single payer healthcare for Marylanders who make under a a certain amount per year.  At this point its the easiest and most solvable issue.  Taxing corporations a fair rate would pay for this without question.

What policies will you pursue to improve health for all Marylanders? Please also consider the social determinants of health?

No specific policies, but implanting and bringing resources to areas, such as the lower shore that are terribly underserved would be a fantastic start.

How do you plan to address consumers' growing exposure to health care costs, such as high deductible health plans and rising prescription drug prices in Maryland?

I would advocate to implement policies to charge a high corporate tax rate to cover cost or if brought to the MD floor, I'd vote and fight for a single payer health system for those who make a wage that could never cost overbearing cost.  This means a majority of the states population.

Maryland’s worsening medical liability climate, as noted in a recent independent report, threatens access to, and affordability of, health care services in Maryland. Plaintiffs’ attorneys typically take 40% of a medical malpractice judgment. Do you support limiting attorneys’ fees so that the affected individuals can receive more of their settlement or judgment? What additional reforms would you support that balance supporting individuals and families harmed by medical malpractice with ensuring continued access to services in a community?

Absolutely I do.

I would push for a state task force to enforce oversight over medical systems to ensure malpractice becomes minimal compared to its current rates.  We have a state surplus to help makes this a reality with funds in the form of state grants.

What are your priorities should you be elected, not confined to health care?

Healthcare is one of my two top priorities, the other is environmental issues and needs.  We need air quality checks at a higher rate than we currently have.  We need to push for greener energy by installing solar panel farms and off shore wind mills here on the lower shore.  we need an electric bus system for a better transit system application in the area.  This would help with carbon emissions, while providing an economic opportunities throughout cities on the lower shore and for those who cant drive or cant afford a vehicle.
