For decades, January has been an exciting—and busy—time for me as I prepared to represent my constituents in the state and in Prince George’s County during the 90-day legislative session.

These initial days of 2024 have been just as exciting, and certainly just as busy, as I’ve been getting to know MHA and making my way around the state to meet with all of you, as well as elected leaders, hospital regulators, and other stakeholders.

These initial weeks have made clear that:

• You and your hospitals are an essential part of the fabric of our communities  
• Your hospitals put the safety in safety net, and the heart in health care
• Together, we have an incredible opportunity to continue Maryland’s status as a nationwide model for value-based health care  

As health care leaders and professionals, you are the cornerstone of our ability to deliver exceptional, life-saving care to all Marylanders. My commitment is to ensure that your needs are met so that you can continue to thrive in your mission.

Leading this small, yet mighty Association with a rich 54-year history is an honor, and I am committed to advancing the health and well-being of our state alongside each of you.

I have also been deeply impressed by the MHA team’s knowledge, talent, and passion. We are here as a resource, ready to support you and your teams in any way possible.
