Johnny Tolbert III, Director, Association Affairs

Johnny Tolbert

Johnny Tolbert III is director of Association Affairs for the Maryland Hospital Association. He supports strategic planning and governance, as well as the Association’s work to strengthen diversity, equity, and inclusion in health care.

Johnny joined MHA in January 2020, at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, as Healthcare Preparedness lead planner and educator and later director, where he created the foundation for the program and offered technical support for regional coalition plan development and revision.

In his role as director of Association Affairs, he continues to support MHA’s health care preparedness program and is a key part of the association’s COVID-19 response.

Prior to joining MHA, Johnny was a Health Emergency Preparedness Representative for multiple western counties for the New York State Department of Health. He also worked at Children’s National Hospital where he was a patient care coordinator in pediatric hematology/oncology and an emergency preparedness program lead.

In 2021, Johnny obtained a Project Management Essentials (PMP Certification Course) from Purdue University. He is currently working toward his Master of Public Health at George Washington University.
