Governor Martin O'Malley announced today that Maryland will expand the distribution of H1N1 flu vaccine to the general population. The five target groups will remain a statewide priority as the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DHMH) reports a decline in flu activity following a late October second wave peak in H1N1 flu. The five target groups include:
- Pregnant Women
- Parents, household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age
- Health care and Emergency Medical Services Personnel
- All People Ages 6 months through 24
- Persons Aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions with higher risk of medical complications from influenza
